Clayton Indiana
Clayton, Indiana is a tiny bedroom community about fifteen miles southwest of Indianapolis, inside the metropolitan sector of Indy. In the 2000 census, the population of Clayton was recorded at just 693 inhabitants, and the vast majority of them commute into the big city for work.
Clayton is surrounded by similar small communities, including Hadley, Reno, Stilesville, Hazelwood, Monrovia, Gasburg, Joppa, and slightly bigger towns such as Mooresville and Plainfield, which are a bit
closer to the Indiana state capitol. For many of these cities and towns, commuting is a way of life. There is a real advantage to it, since when you commute, you can truly leave your work behind you as you enter your own small but, tranquil town.
And for a small suburban town like Clayton, it’s advantageous to let the big guys maintain the bigger amenities. Life, as they have said in the Midwest for centuries, is what you make it.
